Who We Are
With three campuses along Colorado’s Front Range, Front Range Community College is the state’s largest community college. We enroll close to 28,000 students annually from our diverse service area, which offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.
Each year approximately 5,000 FRCC students transfer to four-year universities.  FRCC offers more than 36 career training programs that prepare students for immediate employment and rewarding careers. Last year, more than 5,000 high school students took concurrent enrollment classes with us, earning college credit without having to pay college tuition. And we were recently ranked as one of the “Top Online Colleges” in the country by Newsweek.

Who You Are
As a full-time faculty member in the Manufacturing, Automotive and Construction Technologies Department, you provide instruction in all levels of Optics & Laser Technology, including certificate and/or transfer levels. You work individually, as well as in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students. Student retention and success is your top priority. You will utilize technology and effective teaching strategies to develop students’ critical thinking skills.

You are a team player, who can serve as a liaison to industry, community, and/or academic partners. You will be responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair assessment of learning and clear documentation of student progress. You will be responsible for providing post-secondary optics technology, laboratory safety, quality assurance and manual fabrication program instructional duties within the School of Manufacturing, Automotive & Construction Technology.

You will also assume instructional leadership roles including hiring and mentoring part-time instructors, curriculum development, class scheduling, student advising and other College services. You will provide program oversight duties that involve: managing different funding sources, shared budget oversight, state reporting and program approval; program assessment and planning; curriculum changes following Colorado Community College System (CCCS) guidelines; maintaining supplies/material, shop and equipment in a clean, professional and organized fashion; effectively accommodate students with varying levels of experience. You will also maintain strong relationship with optics, photonics and quantum industry professionals in the community as well as maintain and respond to any active advisory committee requests.

As a faculty member you act as a mentor for the part-time instructors. You serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels. You may be asked to teach at different times, locations and modalities to meet the needs of the College.

Please note: This is an on-campus position with an opportunity for hybrid remote work. You need to be a Colorado resident on your first day of employment.

SELECTION PROCESS: Position will remain open until filled with a priority deadline of March 17, 2024.

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate. Completed application package includes: A resume; A letter of interest; A copy of official transcripts; A one-page statement of your teaching philosophy; and A list of courses and the semesters you have taught.

Primary Duties

• Create an effective learning environment for students regardless of delivery method in accordance with department and college guidelines.
• Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, discipline, and college level.
• Conduct various assessments of student performance throughout the course and provide students with timely and effective feedback.
• Consistently improve course quality and design, by, for example, actively participating in classroom assessment, curriculum development and related activities as a contributing team member at discipline, department, campus, college, and state levels.
• Review and maintain Career Technical Education (CTE) Credentialing for instructors.
• Provide leadership and instructional integrity through hiring, supervision, instructional observation, mentoring, and evaluation of instructors.
• Develop and participate in college marketing efforts, student recruitment, and retention strategies for all instructional programs.
• Collaborate with supervisor to assemble and execute a strategic plan for department initiatives, including industry recommendations and resource management.
• Plan and coordinate required advisory committee meetings two times per year per State Board Policy and accreditation requirements.
• Serve as a liaison to industry, community, and/or academic partners. Participates in professional organizations that enhance the mission of the college.
• Facilitate, coordinate, and supervise internships and clinical experiences for students and initiates contracts with providers.
• Promote professional development of peers/colleagues through in-service activities and the presentation of conference papers and/or publications, and other methodologies appropriate to the teaching field.

Related Degree, Credential, and/or Occupational Experience: Degrees/credentials include, but are not limited to: Any degree that involves Manufacturing, Machining, Physical Science or Engineering (i.e., mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer, material science, aerospace, metallurgy, biomechanical, mechatronics, optics, photonics, physics), NIMS Materials, Measurement and Safety credential, any machining US Department of Labor or Military registered or accredited apprenticeship of 2 years or more, any American Society for Quality certification, any American Society of Mechanical Engineers GD&T certification, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt certification, or any MSSC Certified Production Technician credential.
