Legislative Issues

The CPIA Board of Directors has a very active legislative committee that tracks both national and state issues that affect our members. Because of the diverse nature of the CPIA members, where some members may be harmed by legislation that helps others, CPIA focuses on alerting members when issues are active and encourage participation, and on making sure legislators keep the big issues in mind.

Events & Programs

CPIA provides many opportunities for members to network with others in the photonics community; hear informative speakers; attend training seminars and short courses; learn about university research; and tour company and National Laboratory facilities.

Company Promotion

Members are promoted through their listing on the CPIA webpage. Corporate listings include a description of the product or service and a link to the member homepage.

Members are invited to join together in the “Colorado Cluster” at Photonics West, a major industry trade show. Companies in the cluster receive a 10% discount on exhibit space and are included in the Colorado ad in the Exhibitors Guide. Members who do not attend the show may send literature to be displayed at the CPIA booth.

Member press releases are posted on the CPIA website and may be included in the newsletter.

Workforce Development

Workforce development has been a focus of CPIA since its inception. CPIA brings in professional instructors for technical short courses, and hosts informational seminars. All members of a member organization receive a registration discount for CPIA training events.

CPIA collaborates on efforts to increase photonics-related classes at educational institutions, supports efforts to increase STEM education in the state, and encourages on-the-job training through internships.

Members are invited to submit job openings for posting on the CPIA webpage and distribution in our Photonics Workforce Report.
